Assembly and commissioning of new transformers

• EPI is experienced in assembly of large transformers. EPI owns a Baron USA oil processing system. This includes a high volume vacuum pump with blower, 200 kilowatts of heat, and high efficiency filter press. EPI commissions new transformers following the manufacturer’s specifications.
• Typical commissioning includes:
  • Inspection of core and coils
  • Power factor testing of Bushings
  • Installation of HV bushings
  • Installation of Radiators
  • Vacuuming of transformer until specified dew point is reached
  • Ratio, excitation, and polarity testing of Cts
  • Testing of all controls on transformer
  • Ratio, excitation, polarity and power factor testing of transformer

Maintenance and upgrades to existing transformers

• EPI can provide valuable service on existing transformers to include:
  • Degassing of transformer oil
  • Replacement of mineral oil with biodegradable vegetable oil
  • Addition of fan cooling systems to increase capacity
  • Transformer testing
  • Leak repairs
